Rubbish.
We have a weekly rubbish bin collection where I live.
It is very simple, every Wednesday night we take our garbage bins out
to the front lawn and place them near the verge for collection, early
in the next morning. Every second week there is also a recycling bin collection,
so on that week I also place my recycling bin out, beside my regular garbage
bin.... so every second week both the bins go out, and the others weeks
it is just the rubbish one.
The other week, on a Wednesday afternoon I has some spare time so decided
to take my bin out to the front a little earlier than normal. So I dragged
the rubbish bin down the driveway and placed it in position ready for
it's big day in the morning. While out in the front garden I looked down
the street and saw that no one else has put their bins out yet, except
for a business directly opposite my home.
I looked at my neighbour's rubbish bin and realised they had both of their
bins out, the general rubbish one, and the recycling one. I was suprised
as I thought it was just the rubbish one this week... but my neigbour
had both theirs out.. so I went back down the driveway and dragged my
recycle bin all the way up the driveway to the front lawn and position
it against the verge.
Thursday morning arrives I go to collect my empty rubbish bins, only to
find that by garbage bin has been emptied but not my recycling one. Maybe
the recycling truck broke down, but the I looked down the street and noticed
everyone else didn't have their recycling bin out... only my neighbour
and myself.
Oh dear, I had made a mistake. Some people may say that I didn't make
the mistake, in fact it was my neighbour and I just simply followed....
BUT that is making a mistake!
That week I had looked at what my neighbour was doing and changed what
I had thought...purely based on what they had done. How tempting it can
be to watch what someone else does and copy ... assuming they have it
right.
Blessings,
Akita.
