Too Quick... part one

Recently I went out for dinner with some friends to a local Chinese Restaurant. I enjoy eating Chinese food and was excited about not having to cook the dinner myself.

After ordering the dishes and waiting for them to be brought out to our table, I was feeling very hungry. The dishes of food looked fantastic, smelt great, and was very tempting. I scooped various serves of food onto my plate and straight away put some into my mouth.... heavily focussed on the taste.

I put the food in my mouth too quickly and before I realised I had burnt some taste buds on my tongue and on the roof of my mouth. The food was very hot and with the burnt taste buds I could no longer taste the food I was eating. In fact I was left with a dinner bill, and had a lumpy tongue for a couple of days. It had not worked out how I had thought.. I had hoped to receive a lovely tasting meal, but I had ended up with consequences from my silly action of acting too quick. Too quick for my own good.

Proverbs 14 v 29: A patient man has great understanding, but a quick tempered man displays folly.

Sometimes we may think that if we have things instantly then that must be the best option. Thankfully God forgives us of our sin but normally leaves the consequence with us.... which is very clever otherwise we may never learn or have an incentive to alter our ways and reevaluate.

Don't miss something or end up burnt - because you were rushing or not being wise. Think about it this week, are you too quick for your own good?

Blessings,

Akita.
