Survive Or Thrive.

I was reading a gardening magazine last week and was drawn to an article about veggie patches. I grow vegetables in my garden and so was very keen to gather some new hints and information.

The suggestion was to water your growing veggies twice a day not just once. They said that watering the plants just enough to stay alive is not the best way to grow veggies but to make sure they have the basics plus more. Apparently with providing more than enough water, the veggies grow very fast and taste a lot better.

This 'gardening hint' could reveal a basic principle... if you want something to develop very well it needs its basic needs met, as well as additional support in order to reach further. I thought about our youth in our community and wondered if they are given just enough to get along or if we could provide more than enough.. giving them the opportunity to rise up to challenges.

Spiritually too... do we just leave the teaching and supporting to come from the 'Pastors/Teachers' or are we willing to give of ourselves to catch up with the youth, give more into them, encourage them, have a meal together, sow good seeds into their lives, and water them above what may be the basic amount.

We can either supply enough to survive, or supply extra to thrive.

Blessings,

Akita.
