What We Look For.

Today I was driving into town to buy a few things. The road I was traveling on has duel lanes, so two lanes going in both directions. For some reason all the cars were in the left lane and was going at a snail's pace. All the cars and myself were stuck... well so I thought, but then I started looking for a solution to the problem.

I checked and made sure the other lane was empty, and then moved my car into the right lane (same direction still). This lane was completely empty, free flowing driving - yeah. One or two cars followed my move and there we were out of the traffic jam. Most cars though stayed still and just saw the car in front of them, or just saw the problem. This got me thinking about what we see, what we choose to see...etc

Sometimes if all we see is the problem then that is what we will see, but if we choose to stop looking at the problem and try to find a solution or a positive then there is more chance of having success... and stop being bogged down by problems.

It reminded me of a quote by John Lubbock: "What we see depends mainly on what we look for." This is so true. If we are thinking negatively and waiting for issues or problems to arise then we will find one every time, but on the other hand if we look for solutions or good things in situations then we may also find those.

Having worked with the youth of today I can vouch for this principle. If you are looking for positive qualities in a person and spend time with them, I guarantee you will find some, likewise, if you look at a person and are waiting for them to make a mistake then eventually you will see one.

What are you looking for?

Blessings,

Akita.
