Off With Their Heads.

This week while in the veggie patch I was excited to see my broccoli seedlings growing well. Infact I could see all the broccoli heads/flowers appearing. This was so exciting and rewarding to see the veggie take shape.

While admiring my lovely new broccoli heads a thought appeared into my brain... it had triggered a memory of some advice I once heard. The gardening advice was when you see the broccoli head appear, get your scissors and cut the head off. Are you crazy?

The theory is if you cut off the head, a few more will grow in it's place... so you end up with a few bunches of broccoli not just the one (if you leave it alone).. you need to sacrifice the broccoli so you get a greater return... like an investment. I cut of only half of my brocolii heads - as I found this theory a difficult one to fully commit to. What would you do?

Theories are great but trusting in the advice/principle and carrying it out/putting it into action is another story... it takes great trust/faith... especially when it involves sacrificing existing fruit in the hope more will follow. Sometimes it is hard to part with something comfortable/guaranteed in the hope of something bigger occurring. Comfortable things/spaces are nice but can be limiting. Hmm.

Blessings,

Akita.
