Give Way.

I have a little green car, called Gherkin. It is a three door car and fairly small in size. The other day I was driving home from some shopping and nearly involved in a car accident. I was entering a round about junction and turning around the circle when a large 4-Wheel-Drive entered at a different point and nearly smashed my Gherkin.

I saw what was happening and I was able to brake quickly to prevent the accident. I was quite surprised as I had the right of way and was moving around the round about ...doing the right thing when this driver who did not see my little car took off and nearly wiped me off the road.

Later that day I was thinking about all the times I have given way or altered my driving because there was a driver who made an error or didn't see other cars on the road. I had thought that I had made hardly any mistakes in my driving past compared to the ones I had overlooked/corrected from others....... but then something popped into my head: today's incident at the round-about the 4WD driver had no idea they had actually done anything wrong and had made a bad judgment.... is it then possible that I too had made some errors out on the road in the past several years that I was unaware of, times where others have had to be patient with me, that have given way to me?? ... this got me thinking for a long time. John 8 v 7: "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone."

I had the "right of way" on the round about, they were supposed to give way to all traffic to their right. Most of the time it is natural to see all situations/dramas in your own view "I was right" ... but at times being "right" and never being flexible you can get seriously hurt. Remembering to give way frequently and try hard not to keep a score of how many people you have "left off the hook" - this is for all you "road rages"; 1 Corinthians 13 v 5: love: It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

And who knows... that people unaware to you, may have been working with your mistakes and making allowances for you. Life can be an interesting journey, some things are very clear and sometimes there can be blind spots. Stay focused.

Blessings,

Akita.
