Red Tomatoes
This week I was in my veggie patch collecting some herbs and vegetables
for a salad. One thing I was looking for was some tomatoes. Recently with
the summer heat my tomatoes have started to turn bright red, which is
wonderful as I know they are ready for picking.
I picked some red tomatoes from the edge of the bush and placed them in
my bucket, once I picked a couple I was ready to move off, I didn't see
any other red tomatoes. Then for some reason I kneeled down and moved
some of the leaves to be closer to the stakes and that's when I noticed
something red. Hidden underneath some leaves where more red tomatoes.
These tomatoes were not visible from where I was originally standing but
they were there, ripe, red, and ready to be used. I was shocked that I
nearly missed them, until I got on my knees and caught a glimpse of them.
This got me thinking that there is always stuff going on that may not
be easy to see... and how sad it would be that a fruit, vegetable, person,
gift got over-looked because.... no-one bothered getting on their knees,
and no-one bothered to go searching for more fruit.
Often there is a gem hiding.... one you need to dig around for... one
that is not obvious and in front of others. Thankfully the ripe ones are
red in colour, like people you can tell a man by what fruit he produces,
but if they are amongst others, or amongst leaves and weeds is may be
harder to find, see, or identify - and some may go unnoticed, unpicked,
and unused.
Keep seeking,
Akita.
