Be Open - part 1.
This morning I decided this was the day that I would make new cushion
covers. We have two old chairs which both have a cushion on the seat,
these cushions have aged and needed a new cover.
I only sew once every two years, I am not a good but I can do some basic
sewing, like cushions, pillow slips, and easy repairs..etc.
Thankfully, before sewing the two circular pieces of fabric together
(for the cover) I remembered to leave a big gap where the two pieces were
not joined. This is so when I have finished sewing I can turn the fabric
inside out (to its coloured side) and will also enable me to place the
stuffing/cushion inside the new cover.
Why am I sharing this basic sewing advice???... well a long time ago I
was making other cushion covers, I thought I was clever and I was rushing
things... I remembered to leave a tiny gap of 2 inches to turn the fabric
inside out but I had totally forgot about the stuffing/cushion itself.
How silly. The cover looked great but it was hollow and not full... it
was too difficult to squeeze in the filling - it was made to hold the
stuffing but couldn't due to my rush and not being open minded.
I forgot to ask myself "how is the stuffing going to get into my
cushion cover?", we need to ask ourselves questions like these; "how
is Gods stuff going to get into my life/mind/heart?"....if you don't
create an opening it will be very difficult to be filled.
If you only open up a little bit, then there is only a small bit of stuffing
can be squeezed in. If you're willing to be open then you will get more
out of relationships.
Blessings,
Akita.
