War on Rodents.
Last week destructive birds were eating my olives, and this week rodents
are in my veggie patch. There are some seasons/moments
when you feel like there are things that want to distroy your work/produce.
WAR!
There in my very own fenced off veggie patch are two mice homes/burrows.
They have made large sand mounds and I have seen them scurry along the
ground and run into their homes.
How do you get rid of mice from your garden, when you have a dog and do
not wish to use chemicals? I have thought about digging up their homes
with a shovels to destroy their living quarters - in hope that this will
make them sad and they will run away to another location. I have not taken
any action as yet as I want to do a good, lasting job of their removal.
I must think before acting.
Why... why are they living in the veggie patch... when I looked around
my garden I did notice some capsicums leaning over and resting on the
ground, so I staked the plants, made sure all fruit was off the soil and
lower leaves removed. I also noticed the mice running to beneath our fig
tree, no doubt to munch on ripened figs that have dropped to the floor.
The more I looked the more I found.... an abundance of food sources for
the invaded rodents. It was then I understood that they would not go anywhere
else while there is a free easy source of feed for them and their tribes.
Because my garden was not in order.. I had unknowingly attracted mice.
Some things can be like that, things sneak in and take up residence. Habits
of ours can if left unmaintained attract other habits or things to dwell...
even if its not what we originally want. You can,t remove the rats without
first removing their food. You can not clean a house without first throwing
out the rubbish. If I was able to click my fingers and remove all mice
currently dwelling in my garden... it would be great, but not long until
others come as the source is still there... the thing that attracts them
is still here and they could smell/find it easily.
The rubbish must go... then remove the beasts. Most people don't
like cleaning, pruning, nor maintaining ourselves. Remove the mess/temptation,
keep as clean as possible... avoid being vulnerable to rodents.
Growing with you,
Akita.

Ephesians 4 v 26-28
"In your anger do not sin":
Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,
and do not give the devil a foothold.
He who has been stealing must steal no longer,
but must work, doing something useful with his own hands,
that he may have something to share with those in need.
