Too Quick... part two

There is an old Indian saying, that says: "softly softly catch the monkey". When I first heard this saying I thought it was very strange with the choice of words used. How can you softly catch a monkey?

After some time picturing myself in a jungle with some clever monkeys, this is what I came up with: Any attempts at catching a monkey by acting quickly, making a lot of noise, and running at the animal would not be very successful. Being too loud and too quick could potentially ruin all hope of gaining the prize.

The definition of the word "quick" is: fast in occurrence, and: inclined to hastiness. (according to the Penguin Dictionary)

Do not be inclined to hastiness, hurry is the enemy of spiritual life. Sometimes we feel that if we have things instantly then that must be the best option or the easier way of gaining the target. Being too quick is not the smoothest nor the most rewarding way to gain something.

Don't miss the way or miss the target - because you were rushing or not being wise. Don't be too quick for your own good. Catch the monkey!!!

softly softly,

Akita.
