Sun Screen To Be Applied.

Living in a sunny country like Australia we all grow up with the bottles of sun screen every summer time. When you would spend an afternoon down at the beach Mum would always make sure you had packed a trusty bottle of sun screen. I have done the same with my children and when they are going out in the sun I always make sure they have a bottle of sun screen and are well equipped.

Occasionally one of my children would come home with sun burn. I would question whether they had the sun screen in their bag and the answer would be yes, then the next question was then why are you burnt.. "Because I did not apply it, but I did have the sun screen"... it just remained in the bag.

Was thinking about wisdom this week and realised that no matter how much wisdom you obtain, or wise words you hear, or wise books you read... unless you can successfully apply it to your life then it is not very effective.

Many people; parents, pastors, authors, grandparents... frequently hand out great wisdom and often we realise this and grab that wisdom and put it in our bag. The problem is many seem to just store the wisdom without applying it to their lives and end up kicking themselves later because they didn't use what was given to them.

There must be many ways to apply wisdom... for me I know that I need to slow down the intake of wise words/concepts and just think and act on one at a time. Reading the book of Proverbs is suggested for wisdom... but it is difficult to apply all of it to your life if you read a few chapters in one sitting. One verse at a time, slowly, gently going through it.... softly softly catch the monkey.

We carry sunscreen around so we don't get burnt, we learn wise things so we can be better people... we have access to these great tools yet they are not powerful unless applied.

Blessings,

Akita.
