Treasure.

Last week I watched a movie on television called Pirates Of The Caribbean. It was an interesting movie, but towards the end of the story there was a comment made by one of the characters that got my attention.

The character Bill Turner was trying to find and rescue a lovely lady taken by some evil pirates. Bill ends up teaming up with a pirate, and together they try to track down the evil pirates and save the young lady.

There is a scene where they are both close to the cave where the evil pirates and lady are. Outside the cave there are literally piles of treasure everywhere, they have to physically climb over the mounds of gold to find a way in. The piles of treasure were so impressive that it caused then both to stop for a split second to glance at the shinning piles. The pirate saw Bill gaze at the treasure and asked him if he was tempted by treasure..... Bill replied by saying he was not distracted nor tempted by treasure.. then the wise pirate said "not all treasure is silver and gold, mate".

Wow - that was a great nugget. Bill had no idea that he had treasure in his sights, he thought he was free from that desire that can often get us distracted. The pirate knew better, he had been around long enough to know that everyone has some form of treasure. Sometimes we pursue things unaware or unable to recognize it for what it is.

Some find treasure in wealth, sport cars, jewels, art work, designer clothes...etc
Some find treasure in security, investment homes, huge bank balance... etc
Some find treasure in having a beautiful girlfriend, huge muscles, powerful job, new hair style, university degrees, impressive job title/position... etc
What is your treasure?

Matthew 6 v 21: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Blessings,

Akita.
